Success Stories

Customers which have achieved dramatic increase in their department throughput and efficiency by using VamsTec software are numerous, and only part of them are listed here. Not only did they achieve large savings in material, but have optimized the use of their human and machine resources, ultimately leading to the increase in standard of care given to patients.

At peaks, Traumatology Clinic's X-ray department can be one of the busiest in the city, with numerous patients waiting either for their first exam or follow-ups. Old workflow with film and two film processors clearly showed signs of breaking and was restricting the departments throughput. In late 2005, Vams Tec installed PACS/RIS system which covered CT, MR and fluoroscopy, while CR unit was installed in 2006. |
From the beginning, it was clear that CR unit without its full integration with PACS/RIS will not simplify daily operations. In just one week, system was extended and bound with the existing HIS. Final result is that patient data is entered only once, all imaging request data is visible on the modality console and paperwork is reduced to minimum.
Even more importantly, clinicians in their exam rooms have access to images and reports immediately, which has increased throughput of the whole hospital.

Starting with three small workstations connected to two CT units and one MR in 1998, current PACS/RIS installation in Clinical Hospital Center Rijeka now spans three locations, radiology and endoscopy department and almost 15 imaging modalities and 5 endoscopes, with more that 100 refering physicians. Gastroenterology department was included in the system in 2005, installation was performed in just one day, every procedure performed since then has been documented and every image archived. |
In 2007, the rest of the radiology department was integrated, dramatically reducing film expenses and increasing overall throughput. Networking between three distant locations has enabled radiologists to access all images from one location, without the need to travel between sites.

A typical Croatian county Hospital, Issa system installation there now covers three imaging departments: radiology, gastroenterology and otorinolaringology. Although hospital has a HL7 compliant HIS, all the reporting is performed in Issa system as well, due to the special customizations designed specifically for such workflow. Besides a robust image archive, Issa is used to manage departments, while communication with HIS takes place only to acquire demographic data and retrieve reports for refering physicians. |
A true enterprise PACS, such Issa configuration dramatically reduces space used in server room and minimizes maintenance costs, which is important in smaller hospitals.
